“Smells like roses…” is the first solo exhibition of the young Antwerp artist Ayrton Eblé (°1994) at Callewaert Vanlangendonck Gallery. Starting from excursions to construction sites and with his eye set on the city itself as currently being one big building site, Eblé has worked on a series of new paintings.
Eblé: ‘The lockdown forced me into a different rhythm, which made me look differently at life in the city and the people around me. The paintings that have emerged from these reflections can be read as my contemplations and musings on this in which I hope to convey a message that shows my struggle with this period, but also the beauty and my optimism for the future that came forth out of it’.
At this exhibition, Ayrton Eblé presents his artist’s book De rozentuin in collaboration with Callewaert Vanlangendonck with a text by Vincent Van Meenen.
