Guy Vandenbranden

The optical works

27 August - 31 October, 2021

Optical artworks by Guy Vandenbranden from the 1960s and 70s. Vandenbranden is among the most important Belgian constructivists, following Piet Mondrian and Victor Vasarely, he attained total geometrical abstraction. In 1954, Vandenbranden became acquainted with Vasarely’s work at the Palace of Fine Arts in Brussels. After that, they often met through Galerie Denise René and at Vasarely’s studio in Paris. They also exchanged their work. This exhibition comes on the occasion of the new album by the Belgian music group STUFF, with an optical work by Guy Vandenbranden on the cover. Later in the exhibition there will be an event with the band.
